Jonny, Ruth’s husband and co-founder of The Happy Saver.

Kia ora, I’m Jonny

I’m Ruth’s husband and co-founder of The Happy Saver.

Back in 2016, after years of listening to Ruth talk about our money, I suggested she start writing about it. I thought other people might find it useful and, if I’m honest, I also wanted an excuse to build a website.

So The Happy Saver was born.

Ruth has always been the main voice. She does the writing, podcasting, researching, interviewing and answering questions. I’ve looked after the behind-the-scenes work: design, branding, the website, podcast editing, images, layout, tech, and the general “how should this look and work?” side of things.

I’ve spent more than 30 years working as a graphic designer. During that time, I worked for others, started and co-founded businesses, and for the past 15 years worked part-time as a freelance graphic designer.

These days, I’ve stepped away from regular freelance design work.

I’m not a financial adviser or a money expert. Ruth is definitely more interested in the details than I am. I tend to focus on the bigger questions: Are we on track? Is our net worth growing? And how much is in the holiday fund?

Paying off our mortgage, becoming debt-free, investing regularly and keeping our finances simple has given us the freedom to work less, make our own choices, and eventually step away from regular employment.

If you’d like to get in touch with me, you can do that HERE.

Happy Saving!
