127. Consistently Investing, Month After Month, Year After Year
MONEY JOURNEYS - EPISODE 127
What's In This Episode?
Sara and Michael have been together since they were teenagers and are now approaching 50. They have always been good savers, but for many years they had absolutely no idea what they should actually do with those savings to create wealth. They looked into property, sought advice, read books, websites and newspaper columns, and talked with people they thought might know more than they did. Yet time and again, they came away thinking, nope, that’s not for us.
Eventually, Sara discovered a simple way of investing that made sense to her, and once she understood enough to get started, she did something far more important than finding the perfect investment: she consistently invested, month after month, year after year.
When Sara first emailed me in 2020, they were approaching their mid-forties, and she and Michael were still relatively early in their financial journey. Six years later, she got back in touch and mentioned that I might be interested to hear how far they had come.
Starting from zero, they now have $1.385 million invested, own their home outright, and are beginning to think about what happens next. Because after years of asking, “How do we build wealth?” they’re now getting to ask the much more interesting question: “What do we actually want to do with it?”
